CHIASM

In the Scriptures, there is a literary device used, called a "chiasm",
in which a series of statements are mirrored in subsequent statements.
Genesis

• Chapters 7 and 8  are an example of this "mirrored" or
  symmetrical structure that is being used in describing the flood.
